Bangkok wandering

We started out late today, again. We wanted to check out the gogo area around Nana Entertainment Plaza, when in Rome you know. We took the train to Nana station and went for a wander. Up the road we found Starbucks so stopped for a frapechino. After that we found the street with the gogo bars and had a walk around, needless to say there wasn't much going on in the middle of the day. We went into one of the bars to soak up the atmosphere but got no further than the bar, they wanted 70 baht ($3) for a can of Pepsi, its a bit difficult to pay that when at a convenience store they are only about 15 baht so we bailed.
On our way back to the station we encountered a man who started out touting for a taylor, I asked him about the laminated folded card in his hand, it was for sex shows. We didn't find out the hard way, but he recons 1300 baht will get you a 2 hour show.
There are markets up and down the main street near the station selling the usual clothing and souvenirs, one stall was selling mini tuk tuks made out of old aluminium drink cans and another had a basket made from cans. It is great to see the innovation some people put into recycling. The most exciting item was a tazer, it made a heck of a noise and it was quite hard to hold back from testing it on my leg just to see what it would feel like. :)
We wanted to get away from the western malls and thought that the end station on the line might provide something different. So it was off to On Nut. We arrived to find markets and another western style mall, although not one of the flashy ones, this was more for every day people. Well we're here so may as well look around.
The markets had the usual clothing and food but not realy souvenirs. I got some roast pork and sticky rice for 35 baht then we went to check out the mall. We were so excited when we found the food court. There were about 15-20 places selling Thai style food. We had a greenish chicken curry and glass noodle ball things, both with rice, 30 baht each. It was great. You know, you wouldn't think it would be hard to find reasonably priced Thai food in Thailand, but in the tourist areas of Bangkok, forget it, we'll be back.
