Washington DC. First impressions.

1. Clinical
2. Expensive
The supermarket food on average seems to be more costly than London. The accommodation is more. Surprisingly the transport is cheaper by about half and most museums and monuments are free.
We arrived yesterday arvo and didn't see much except for the hostel and the supermarket.
Today we walked several miles around the streets passing many government buildings, museums and monuments. We went up the George Washington monument this afternoon which at 555 feet 5 1/8 inches is the tallest free standing stone structure in the world.
